What people said
“1. for fuzzy search. Great for easily searching and selecting git branches + tags + commits, commands from shell history, files, shell jobs, processes, etc. 2. for more structured scripting.”
“I also same here. Has since I discovered Ctrl+R, and equipped it with fzf, every terminal command is in my hand, I can fuzzy search and not need to remember the exact command. This really saved me a lot of times.”
“Some others that look really clean: bat: tldr: fzf:”
“If you like ctrl^r, you'll _love_”
“I would highly recommend checking out fzf for better history search. Found the recommendation on another similar thread here and from coworkers. It's surprisingly fast and very intuitive.”
“This used to happen to me constantly. I fixed it accidentally in switching to Ripgrep which defaults to recursively searching the current directory. Bonus: it parallelises too! Honourable mention also to FZF which not only makes it trivial to locate a file in a directory…”
“fzf - command-line fuzzy finder Easy to overlook... I almost don't even notice it, but I use it more than any other application (every time I type).”
“Fuzzy Finder for files, history and more. Integrates with Vim (and maybe other editors). It is wicked fast.”
